1 Opening Prayer
Let us remember we are in the presence of our God.
In the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit. Amen.
Prayer to the Holy Spirit
Come, Holy Spirit, fill the hearts of Your faithful and enkindle in them the fire of Your love.
Send forth Your Spirit and they shall be created, and You shall renew the face of the earth. O God, by the light of the Holy Spirit, teach the hearts of the faithful and grant that by the same Spirit we may be truly wise and ever enjoy His consolation.
Through Christ Our Lord. Amen
For the Holy Father and all members of the Vincentian Family
Lord we pray for the special intentions of our Holy Father, for Bishops, Priests, Religious and all members of the Vincentian family throughout the world, especially in those countries with which we are twinned. We remember particularly our benefactors and those we assist.
For ourselves
Lord, You gave St Vincent de Paul a heart overflowing with love for You. Grant us the same fervour of charity, that we too may see Your image in those whom we assist and gladly give them a share of our time and possessions.
Prayer for the Society spirit
Lord Jesus, we rejoice in the faith and courage of our founders, especially Blessed Frederic Ozanam. May their spirit be renewed in the Society of today that we may be open to the needs of the poor and disadvantaged and receptive to the inspiration of the Holy Spirit.
Hail, Mary, full of grace, the Lord is with thee. Blessed art thou amongst women and blessed is the fruit of thy womb, Jesus. Holy Mary, Mother of God, pray for us sinners, now and at the hour of our death. Amen.
Glory be to the Father, and to the Son, and to the Holy Spirit, as it was in the beginning, is now, and ever shall be, world without end. Amen.
In the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit. Amen.

Prayers for Christian unity
Lord Jesus Christ, at Your last supper, You prayed to the Father that all should be one. Send Your Holy Spirit upon all who bear Your name and seek to serve You. Strengthen our faith in You and make us love one another in humility. May we who have been reborn in one baptism, all be united in one faith under one shepherd.
Prayer for the Canonisation of Blessed Frederic Ozanam
In the hope of obtaining a miracle through his intercession, Lord, You made Blessed Frederic Ozanam a witness of the Gospel, filled with wonder at the mystery of the Church.
You opened his mind and heart to the injustice and misery which prevailed in his time, and endowed him with an untiring generosity at the service of spiritual, cultural, physical or material suffering.
Within his family life, he revealed a most genuine love as a son, a brother, a husband and a father.
In the secular world, his ardent passion for the truth enlightened his thought, his teaching and his writings.
To our Society, which he imagined as a universal network of charity, he instilled Saint Vincent de Paul’s spirit of love, boldness and humility.
In all these aspects of a too short life appears his prophetic vision of the social issues as well as the radiance of his holiness.
For all these gifts, we thank you, O Lord, and beseech you, if such is thy will, to grant us the favour of a miracle, through Blessed Frédéric Ozanam’s intercession.
May you lead the Church to recognize him as a Saint, so providential for our time!
We make this prayer through Our Lord Jesus Christ. Amen.

Liturgy of the Dead (Nov 2)
O Lord Open My Lips / And my mouth will declare your praise. (small cross on the lips)
Psalm 95
1 Come, let us sing for joy to the Lord;
let us shout aloud to the Rock of our salvation.
Come, let us worship the Lord, all things live for Him.
2 Let us come before him with thanksgiving
and extol him with music and song.
Come, let us worship the Lord, all things live for Him.
3 For the Lord is the great God,
the great King above all gods.
Come, let us worship the Lord, all things live for Him.
4 In his hand are the depths of the earth,
and the mountain peaks belong to him.
Come, let us worship the Lord, all things live for Him.
5 The sea is his, for he made it,
and his hands formed the dry land.
Come, let us worship the Lord, all things live for Him.
6 Come, let us bow down in worship,
let us kneel before the Lord our Maker;
Come, let us worship the Lord, all things live for Him.
7 for he is our God
and we are the people of his pasture,
the flock under his care.
Today, if only you would hear his voice,
Come, let us worship the Lord, all things live for Him.
8 “Do not harden your hearts as you did at Meribah,
as you did that day at Massah[b] in the wilderness,
Come, let us worship the Lord, all things live for Him.
9 where your ancestors tested me;
they tried me, though they had seen what I did.
Come, let us worship the Lord, all things live for Him.
10 For forty years I was angry with that generation;
I said, ‘They are a people whose hearts go astray,
and they have not known my ways.’
Come, let us worship the Lord, all things live for Him.
11 So I declared on oath in my anger,
‘They shall never enter my rest.’”
Glory Be…
Come, let us worship the Lord, all things live for Him.
Psalm 40
From the Earth You Formed Me, With Flesh You Clothed Me: Lord, My Redeemer, raise me up again at the Last Day.
Lord, may it please you to rescue me; look upon me and help me.
My soul is thirsting for the Living God: when Shall I see Him, Face to Face?
1 I waited patiently for the Lord;
he turned to me and heard my cry.
2 He lifted me out of the slimy pit,
out of the mud and mire;
he set my feet on a rock
and gave me a firm place to stand.
3 He put a new song in my mouth,
a hymn of praise to our God.
Many will see and fear the Lord
and put their trust in him.
4 Blessed is the one
who trusts in the Lord,
who does not look to the proud,
to those who turn aside to false gods.[b]
5 Many, Lord my God,
are the wonders you have done,
the things you planned for us.
None can compare with you;
were I to speak and tell of your deeds,
they would be too many to declare.
6 Sacrifice and offering you did not desire—
but my ears you have opened[c]—
burnt offerings and sin offerings[d] you did not require.
7 Then I said, “Here I am, I have come—
it is written about me in the scroll.[e]
8 I desire to do your will, my God;
your law is within my heart.”
Glory Be…
9 I proclaim your saving acts in the great assembly;
I do not seal my lips, Lord,
as you know.
10 I do not hide your righteousness in my heart;
I speak of your faithfulness and your saving help.
I do not conceal your love and your faithfulness
from the great assembly.
11 Do not withhold your mercy from me, Lord;
may your love and faithfulness always protect me.
12 For troubles without number surround me;
my sins have overtaken me, and I cannot see.
They are more than the hairs of my head,
and my heart fails within me.
13 Be pleased to save me, Lord;
come quickly, Lord, to help me.
14 May all who want to take my life
be put to shame and confusion;
may all who desire my ruin
be turned back in disgrace.
15 May those who say to me, “Aha! Aha!”
be appalled at their own shame.
16 But may all who seek you
rejoice and be glad in you;
may those who long for your saving help always say,
“The Lord is great!”
17 But as for me, I am poor and needy;
may the Lord think of me.
You are my help and my deliverer;
you are my God, do not delay.
Glory Be…
Psalm 42
1 As the deer pants for streams of water,
so my soul pants for you, my God.
2 My soul thirsts for God, for the living God.
When can I go and meet with God?
3 My tears have been my food
day and night,
while people say to me all day long,
“Where is your God?”
4 These things I remember
as I pour out my soul:
how I used to go to the house of God
under the protection of the Mighty One[d]
with shouts of joy and praise
among the festive throng.
5 Why, my soul, are you downcast?
Why so disturbed within me?
Put your hope in God,
for I will yet praise him,
my Savior and my God.
6 My soul is downcast within me;
therefore I will remember you
from the land of the Jordan,
the heights of Hermon—from Mount Mizar.
7 Deep calls to deep
in the roar of your waterfalls;
all your waves and breakers
have swept over me.
8 By day the Lord directs his love,
at night his song is with me—
a prayer to the God of my life.
9 I say to God my Rock,
“Why have you forgotten me?
Why must I go about mourning,
oppressed by the enemy?”
10 My bones suffer mortal agony
as my foes taunt me,
saying to me all day long,
“Where is your God?”
11 Why, my soul, are you downcast?
Why so disturbed within me?
Put your hope in God,
for I will yet praise him,
my Savior and my God.
Glory Be…
Lord, countless are your Mercies / Give Me life according to your Word.
1 Corinthians 15: 12-24
The Resurrection of the Dead
12 But if it is preached that Christ has been raised from the dead, how can some of you say that there is no resurrection of the dead? 13 If there is no resurrection of the dead, then not even Christ has been raised. 14 And if Christ has not been raised, our preaching is useless and so is your faith. 15 More than that, we are then found to be false witnesses about God, for we have testified about God that he raised Christ from the dead. But he did not raise him if in fact the dead are not raised. 16 For if the dead are not raised, then Christ has not been raised either. 17 And if Christ has not been raised, your faith is futile; you are still in your sins. 18 Then those also who have fallen asleep in Christ are lost. 19 If only for this life we have hope in Christ, we are of all people most to be pitied.
20 But Christ has indeed been raised from the dead, the firstfruits of those who have fallen asleep. 21 For since death came through a man, the resurrection of the dead comes also through a man. 22 For as in Adam all die, so in Christ all will be made alive. 23 But each in turn: Christ, the firstfruits; then, when he comes, those who belong to him. 24 Then the end will come, when he hands over the kingdom to God the Father after he has destroyed all dominion, authority and power.
John 12:23-26
23 Jesus replied, “The hour has come for the Son of Man to be glorified. 24 Very truly I tell you, unless a kernel of wheat falls to the ground and dies, it remains only a single seed. But if it dies, it produces many seeds. 25 Anyone who loves their life will lose it, while anyone who hates their life in this world will keep it for eternal life. 26 Whoever serves me must follow me; and where I am, my servant also will be. My Father will honor the one who serves me.
Let Us Pray: Lord, hear our prayers. By raising your Son from the dead, you have given us faith. Strengthen our hope that [OUR LIST OF NAMES] , our brothers and sisters will share in His resurrection. We ask this in through Our Lord Jesus Christ, Your Son, Who lives and reigns with You in the unity of the Holy Spirit, one God, Forever and ever. Amen.
Let us praise the Lord. And give Him Thanks. Amen.
